Pre Fleecer Ridge

It's Monday, July 7.

We're going to keep to the route (some opt for an alternate that is noted as longer but less difficult) and go from Butte to Parker Creek (primitive camp area ... a 48 mile ride) in... I don't know which national forest at the moment... via Fleecer Ridge on Mount Fleecer -- said to be one of the hardest climbs-- and certainly the toughest descent -- on the whole route (maybe just next up in difficulty as our ascents yesterday?) . It's said to be unforgettable, which we don't want to miss. And we don't want to shy from the challenge.

Still, it's daunting. Paul's been tuning the bikes this morning (too pooped last night), and we need to provision for a couple lunches, a dinner and a breakfast before we leave town. It'll mean a later start than ideal, so we're hoping it'll be a little cooler today, with a tailwind!

We can still take an alternate-- decide about 30 miles in. We'll see. Really looking forward to tomorrow night, in any case, when we'll be at some hotsprings!
